What is Zir Chemed?
Founded in 1985, and based in Jerusalem, Zir Chemed is an international organization dedicated to assisting couples with infertility issues.
It currently helps as many as 2000 couples per year.
In this extremely complex area, Zir Chemed have developed a unique holistic approach, offering both counseling, emotional support and technical expertise.
Who does Zir Chemed Help?
Zir Chemed assists couples from all walks of life. In particular, it has been serving the the observant community and meeting their complex halachic needs, with the backing of all the major poskim in Israel
Are the treatments expensive?
The cost of fertility treatments can be exorbitant. Our goal is to provide low-cost treatments to couples.
We also seek the most naturally effective treatments, thus often avoiding invasive procedures and undue costs. In Israel, we try to work in connection with health insurance companies (kupot cholim) in order to reduce costs.
How is Zir Chemed different from other fertility clinics?
Religious couples seeking fertility treatment are often bitterly disappointed by the lack of regard for their halachic needs in the standard medical establishment. Zir Chemed stands unique worldwide in regard to this complex issue. Not only are the staff well versed in all the halachic aspects of treatment but are also in constant contact with poskim whenever a she’ela arises. Simultaneously, Zir Chemed pays the highest regard to preserving the privacy of the couple. Zir Chemed has been blessed with a higher than average success rate in its fertility treatments. Dr. Shreiber attributes this to the fact that the doctors always pray for their patients!
Does Zir Chemed only help couples in Israel?
Zir Chemed’s mission is definitely not limited to couples residing in Israel. Our staff assists couples from all over the world. In this age of global communication, couples are able to maintain contact with our doctors via emails, faxes and, of course, phone calls whenever they need advice, references or teleconference consultations.
Moreover, under the aegis of the Jerusalem clinic, Dr. Brooks, PhD. Travels extensively providing personal counseling and diagnosis to couples as far a field as England, the USA, France and Belgium. His expertise is an invaluable resource to the Jewish community worldwide.
How would my donation help Zir Chemed?
Zir Chemed is currently operating in cramped premises and desperately needs to expand. A building fund has been set up for this purpose. Your donation could prevent Zir Chemed from turning couples away or could help us offer wider subsidy benefits to those who cannot afford treatment.
