| PARTY
PLANNING by Freidi Klein & Michal Feldman |
|
Party planning is catching on faster than we ever anticipated.
What began out as a wild idea has been actualized and has
really taken off.
For a flat rate, we will come along with our dedicated
team on any day of the week and set up your function with
class, style and flair.

|
|
Our service
includes supplying tablecloths with a choice of burgundy
and navy crushed velvet, (any donors for more fabric
out there?) that drape to the floor, complemented
by silver runners. Original dishes, mirrors, heights
and pillars are also provided. Optional extras include
ordering in artistic fruit platters, cakes and disposables.
Big thanks are due to the following
generous suppliers who continually donate a percentage
to Zir Chemed: |

| THE
BIRTH OF JERUSALEM FRIENDS OF ZIR CHEMED by Devorah
Rabinowitz |
|
My Initial contact with Friends of Zir Chemed was before
Purim 5762 when I was asked to host a table for their first
annual dinner. The organizers succeeded in producing a one
of a kind event - no mean feat, in view of the fact that
fundraising dinners are prevalent in our community. The
evening’s success was largely due to the ladies’
creative ideas and sheer determination to make this occasion
unforgettable.
In Shevat 5763 I was approached again, this time to join
the committee. At the first meeting that I attended, where
the second annual dinner was in the process of being organized,
I met the committee members who were all extremely dedicated.
When Esti subsequently wished to expand FOZC and asked if
I’d assume the task as branch director, I gladly agreed.

|
AS of this date, a
Kiddush arranging facility has been established in
the Sorotzkin area, where stunning kidushim have been
set up by a group of ladies.
Specific attention is paid to detail and design -
the end result an exquisite function. Feedback has
been highly complimentary and we have been requested
to establish a similar service in other neighborhoods
- anyone interested?

Michal and Freidi have taken an idea from conception to
birth, literally whipping it into shape, somehow finding
time in their busy schedules to almost single-handedly set
up the infrastructure for the scheme, whilst simultaneously
arranging the simchos. Kol Hakavod!
An international quiz evening took place in December that
was also highly popular and proved to be a very effective
fundraising strategy. People volunteered to host the evening
in their homes where they served dinner/ refreshments and
presented the quiz. We are already planning our second Trivia
night for this coming winter. We hope to have good results
this time as well, IY”H.
We have also visited the clinic where we were inspired
by the dynamic Dr.Hava-Yael Schreiber, who together with
Dr.Brooks seems to have invented the 24 hour day and saw
first hand the desperate need for new premises. Friends
of Zir Chemed is B’H expanding under Esti’s
energetic leadership. She has, in a short period of time,
become a good friend.
It is an incredible privilege for me to be working for
this important cause and with such a fantastic team. I feel
particularly fortunate to be based in Yerushalayim; the
focal point for Yidden worldwide. If any of you volunteers
are ever in Yerushalayim, please be in touch - we’d
love to meet you.
It would be remiss of me to conclude this article without
mentioning Rabbi Tenenbaum who phrases his feelings so aptly,
when he says, “Being involved in FOZC is not just
joining another organization, it means belonging to the
Zir Chemed family!”

TRYFUS SPEAKS - SUMMER 2005 |
|
In November 1996 my
husband and I were blessed with full-term healthy
triplet girls.
After we all recovered we were looking for a way
- perhaps a Tzedakah that we could give to - that
we could contribute to the Klal in order to give thanks
and praise to Hashem.
Interestingly enough, within a short time, Rav Tenenbaum’
a close family friend, approached us about Zir Chemed
and asked if we could be the American liaisons for
the organisation.
|
|
 |
Of course, we said yes immediately and could not believe
the hashgacha that not only were we sent clear direction
to a charity that we could give to but that the said Tzedakah
also involved babies, multiples and miracles.
As part of American FOZC we have raised money via breakfasts
and Melave Malka evenings. Moreover, by spreading the word
of Zir Chemed people have been very generous. As part of
our work we were also responsible for banking and forwarding
the money for the organisation. There is an intense satisfaction
in being part of any Tzedakah, however this one in particular
is extra special to me because as a mother one can imagine
the heartache of those who can’t experience the joy.
This summer we realized another dream of ours as we made
Aliyah, and we are looking forward to being part of Friends
of Zir Chemed in Israel.
| HOW
WE GOT STARTED - Aviva Rowe / FOZC UK |
|
 |
After
having known Rabbi Tenenbaum for a number of years
and the wonderful work that he does for Zir Chemed
I thought it would be a great idea to try and organize
an event over in England.
Our first event was a Shopping Bonanza at our Shul
Ner Yisrael, which raised a grand total of £1500.
Through this event some people approached me to ask
if they could be involved in future events and others
were asked if they would be happy to become part of
the Zir Chemed Committee.
|
So far we have had two committee meetings for Zir
Chemed. We all put our thoughts and ideas forward
for future events eg, a dinner, quiz supper, Chanukah
shopping fair etc but we need to make as many people
as possible aware of Zir Chemed in order to raise
more money.
We also hope to be able to get contacts for Zir Chemed
so that they can be written to for the Rosh Hashanah
Appeal.
We have a wonderful committee consisting of 11 members
who are very dedicated and enthusiastic. There is
a sense of unity, and togetherness working towards
a common goal. The meetings are filled with good humor
and fun coupled with the ability to make qualified
decisions in a timely fashion. We hope to build on
our current achievements and with G-d's help go from
strength to strength and have much Hatzlocha.
